FAQ - Your questions answered

Q1  What does the money back guarantee give me?

Peace of mind. We are very confident that the system we supply is of truly superb value. If, within the first 30 days of your contract, you are not 100% happy with the product for any reason, we will remove the alarm system and refund all monies paid to us.

Q2   What is the Price Promise?
We continually review the market and our competitors to ensure that we offer the best price for an equivalent system. Our intention is not to lose money but to ensure that we keep our Price Promise. As with our Price Guarantee, if you find that someone can offer an equivalent system for a better price we will refund you the difference within the first 30 days of the contract. However, if you are still deciding about a system and you can show that you can achieve better value for an equivalent wireless system - tell us and we will see if we can at least match it!

Q3   Installation fee of only £299 – where's the hitch?

Ultimate Locks is a private company and we constantly listen to our customers.

Our customers are at the core of our operations, the forefront of our plans and the very essence of our future strategy.

A bold statement and a claim that many make but only we truly believe it.

The philosophy of our business is to give customers the very highest quality service at the most competitive price and we know we deliver on this promise because you tell us we do. The price of only £299 is well below the £700 or £800 charged by our competitors ensures that we deliver on our commitment to give true value for money.

We are also aware that the industry moves quickly and sometimes an offer will be made that may be more attractive – in this instance, as long as the offer is compared like for like we will match it.

We also have our Price Promise which backs up this claim and ensures peace of mind. Here, for a period of 30 days after your system has been installed we will refund you the difference between the price you paid and any like for like system you find in the market.

Q4   Why should I choose a monitored alarm system?
A monitored burglar alarm system has a number of benefits when compared to a burglar alarm system that just rings an alarm in your home.

The police will respond to a burglar alarm system, which qualifies for police response. Part of the Alarm solution ensures you have this level of response by providing a URN number from your local police district, this number logs your address on their monitoring systems to guarantee they will respond to an alarm in your home. There is no guarantee that the police will respond to a bell-only alarm, unless there is additional evidence that a crime is in progress.

If you opt for a panic alarm the police will respond immediately if it is set off.

Q5  How do I know that my alarm system is eligible for police response?
Alarm companies that install alarm systems with police response need to comply with a number of standards and regulations enforced by the Association of Chief Police Officers and the British Standards Institution. These standards are governed by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited companies like the National Security Inspectorate. Sector Alarm currently holds the Systems Silver status with the NSI, which means that we are rigorously inspected twice per year to ensure that we comply to all standards and regulations we need in order to provide alarm systems with police response.

Q6  Other than the installation fee are there any other costs?
Yes, there is a monthly monitoring charge of £25.95 which we arrange to take via direct debit, this ensures that your system is connected and monitored by our 24/7 alarm receiving center. There is one additional charge of £45 which you pay directly to your local Police authority for your Unique Reference Number (URN); a number that registers you with your local police district for police response.

Q7  How long is my contract?
36 months

Q8  What happens if I move home?

Many customers will move within our 36 month contract period. If you do we will move your system or install a new one free of charge so that you can continue to enjoy the benefits of a monitored service.

Q9  What happens if my alarm is activated?
If the alarm is activated a signal is sent to our monitoring center. They will first try to call you. If there is no response from you and the alarm is triggered a second time it is considered activated and the emergency services will be notified.

Q10  What if someone cuts my phone line?
We will try to contact you via a mobile number. If that is not possible, it is treated as a triggered alarm and the police will be notified.

Q11  What happens if there is a problem with my alarm?
We will service your system every six months, as part of the monitoring contract, to ensure your burglar alarm system is in perfect working order. In the unlikely event that there is a problem with your alarm system between services, our engineers are on standby 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Many problems can be solved remotely, using a diagnostic tool that operates via the telephone line.

Q12  Will my monthly charges be increased during the contract?
We may be forced to increase our monthly charges if circumstances beyond our control demand this. However, we do guarantee that any increases will not be above the level of inflation and that there will be no more than one in any twelve-month period.

Q13  How do I know that Sector Alarm is a legitimate provider of monitored alarm services?
We are accredited by the National Security Inspectorate, which has awarded us System Supplier Silver status. The NSI is the independent body who inspect firms providing security systems across the UK. It has replaced NACOSS in performing this role. The NSI protects you, the customer, by insisting on the highest standards and operating the toughest inspection regime. We are inspected regularly by highly qualified, full-time inspectors, to prove our ongoing competence. NSI schemes meet or exceed the appropriate requirements of the Police, Fire Service and Insurers.

Our accreditation by the NSI allows you to take advantage of our fantastic offer safe in the knowledge that you will be getting a high quality monitored burglar alarm system and support service.

Q14  Can I add to my system in the future?
Yes, we can easily add elements (e.g. extra PIR detectors or key-fobs) to your burglar alarm system as required throughout the length of the contract.
